Reading room

1.      The Library adopts an open-shelf mode. Users need to present their Library Cards and then enter the Stack Room with a card of book replacement. If not borrowing the book, the book should be put back in its original place or on the small desk for rearrangement, but can not be left about arbitrarily. Smoking and loud noise is not permitted in the Library. No person shall bring any rubbish, filth or other offensive matter into the Library.

2.      After selecting books, please transact the procedure of borrowing book at the Circulation Desk. Users can borrow books subject to the Loan Quotas and Loan Periods listed below.

Renewal

CMU borrowers can renew material online on condition that there is no one requesting for the same item. Renewals must be made no later than the last date of the initial loan period. All loans are subject to recall in accordance with Loan Quotas and Loan Periods.

Book Requests/Reservations

Using their respective book request quota (see Loan Quotas and Loan Periods), users can place holds on items that have been checked out to other users. The reserved book being held for a user shall be kept for a maximum of eight (8) days. Readers are advised to check information online by using My Circulation Record option of the library integrated system.

 

Return Procedure

All borrowers must return all loans to the Circulation Desk or book drop. In order to meet the needs of other users, you are encouraged to return books directly to the Circulation Desk during the open hours. For damaged library items, the user will be amerced according to the regulations. Users are charged for damaged items at the cost of restoration, or replacement if necessary.

Late Return

The user is responsible for returning borrowed material to the Library on time. Failure to return material by the due date or hour will result in the application of fines and sanctions. Each book per day fines for 0.20 Yuan. Instead of paying fines, full-time students will be forbidden to borrow books for a period of time according the relative regulations.

 

Loss of Library Materials

For lost library items, the users should compensate the book of the same version. If the lost book is out of print, the users should pay 5-10 times cost of replacement and the overdue fines accrued accordingly.

·The user who uses a borrowed card will be forbidden to borrow books.

·No library materials shall be removed from the Library until their issue has been properly recorded at the appropriate counter. Any infringement of this clause may lead to disciplinary action.
